8 Unique Cabins on the Oregon Coast (All on One Private Lake)
From the round king bed in the Lavender Loft to the private hot tub at Merlot Manor, the hand-painted ceiling in Bloom Belvedere, and a 1970s record room with blackberries growing off the deck, the eight unique cabins on the Oregon Coast that make up The Florentine all sit together on the north shore of Siltcoos Lake, just 8 miles (12.9 km) south of Old Town Florence!
There are floor-to-ceiling lake views in every single one, a private fishing dock, kayaks that launch onto a canoe trail running all the way to the Pacific, and a bonfire down by the water every night. Yes, every night, and it's for all these reasons that I truly believe there's a cabin here for every type of traveler on the Oregon Coast!
Now, all this goes without saying that I don't just write about this place, my husband Robin and I bought a closed-down RV park here, spent six months rebuilding it, and reopened in 2025 as ten units across eight cabin designs. We designed every room and went up and down the coast finding the best decor for each room. That's why I believe these are truly one of the most unique Oregon Coast cabins on a lake!

What Makes These Cabins Unique?
Three things: every design is one-of-a-kind, the water is a freshwater lake rather than the ocean, and seven of the eight designs are standalone buildings with no shared walls, which is a great alternative to a hotel.
I believe this is what genuinely separates them.
The first is the design itself. Every cabin here was built as its own world, different palette, different furniture, completely different feeling, we wanted a room that spoke to the individual personality of each traveler. That said, this is exactly what makes them unique places to stay Oregon Coast travelers actually remember years later, and in my opinion it's remarkably rare in a region where you typically just get 4 white walls.

The second is the lake. These are lakefront cabins Oregon Coast visitors don't expect to find. With the lake right out side your window you get to enjoy a beautiful lake view with beautiful morning sunrises. Moreover the lake opens you up to tons of lake activities like kayaking, boating, fishing, and paddle boarding. Siltcoos Lake is the largest lake on the Oregon Coast but while you are here it's all yours!
The third is connection. We encourage each of our guests to come out in the evening for our nightly bonfire social. It is such a fun time to hear different stories and truly connect with people. This is personally one of my favorite parts about The Florentine. To slow down, roast S'mores, just sit by the fire and enjoy life. We built The Florentine knowing that not everyone gets a vacation all the time. So in the time that you do, we want to make sure that we go above and beyond with our hospitality to make it the most relaxing time for you!
Where Are These Cabins Located?
The cabins are at 4844 Fish Mill Way, Westlake, OR 97493, on the north shore of Siltcoos Lake, 8 miles and about 10 minutes south of Old Town Florence.
If you're trying to decide where to stay in Florence Oregon, I think the trade-off is genuinely simple. In town, you're walking distance to restaurants and the boardwalk. Out here, you're on the water, three minutes from the dunes, and ten minutes from those exact same restaurants.
Personally, I'd take the water every time, but I'm obviously biased, and I'd rather say that outright!
Drive times from the property:
Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area — 3 minutes. If you're searching for cabins near Oregon Dunes, that's the drive from our parking lot to the sand.
Old Town Florence — 10 minutes north.
Sandpines Golf Links — 15 minutes.
Heceta Head Lighthouse — 30 minutes north on Highway 101.
The open Pacific — a paddle down the Siltcoos River Canoe Trail, which starts at our dock.
One more thing worth mentioning is the history here. This land dates back to the 1800s, and before it was ever The Florentine it was the Roosevelt Supper Club, and then the Fish Mill Fishing Lodge. In any case, I think that history is part of why the property feels the way it does!

1. Vanilla Villa — The Cabin With the Best View

The Vanilla Villa has four floor-to-ceiling windows, a canopy bed, and what is genuinely the best lake view of any of our lakefront cabins Oregon Coast guests choose between.
I say this because the windows here face directly down the length of the lake rather than across it, which means the light moves through this room all day in a way it doesn't in the others. If you're booking your first stay with us and you want to feel WOW-ed I pick this room for the stunning view. Every morning when you wake up you'll see the beautiful sunrise over the lake right in front of you!

2. Merlot Manor — The Cabin With the Hot Tub

Merlot Manor is the only cabin with hot tub Oregon Coast guests will find at The Florentine, and the tub sits on its own private patio facing directly out over the water.
That said, the hot tub is genuinely not the only reason to book this one. The room is wine-themed with deep, dark colors and an entire wall of glass, and in my opinion it's the most dramatic room on the property after dark, which is exactly when you'll be in the tub anyway!

3. Record Room — The Retro Cabin

The Record Room is built entirely around music, art and 1970s design, with a private deck sitting out over the water.
This is easily the most playful room we have, and it's the one guests photograph most by a wide margin. I say this because it's the room people walk into and immediately start pointing at things and if you're traveling with someone who appreciates a good record collection, this is the one!
One small detail I love: there are wild blackberries growing along the deck railing, and in July and August you can pick them from where you're sitting.

4. Bloom Belvedere — The Cabin With the Hand-Painted Ceiling
Sleeps: 2–5 | Beds: 2 queen | Pet-Friendly: Yes
In Bloom Belvedere you sleep underneath a hand-painted ceiling mural, which as far as I know is not something you'll find anywhere else on this stretch of coast.
I believe this is the most artistic room we have, and it's the only one where the reason to book it is above you rather than in front of you. That said, it also happens to be the most flexible of our smaller cabins, as we can add an extra bed on request to sleep five!

5. Sage Suite — The Serene Cabin

The Sage Suite was designed as a genuinely meditative space, soft greens, low light, and a deck that faces east across the water toward the sunrise.
Of all our Florence, Oregon lodging, this is the one I recommend when the entire point of the trip is stillness. I say this because the layout here is different from the others: the main living area looks directly out at the lake, which means you can sleep out there and watch the sunrise come up over the water without getting out of bed. There are full curtains if you'd rather sleep in!

6. Funky Fortress — The Cabin for Large Groups and Families (Sleeps 8)

The Funky Fortress is our large group cabin rental Oregon Coast families book, with two private bedrooms, four queen beds total, a full oven and a large private balcony over the lake.
That said, the detail that actually matters for groups is the oven. I say this because this is the only cabin on the property with one, and if you're the person cooking for eight people, that is genuinely the difference between a great weekend and a stressful one! The second bedroom has a queen plus a queen-over-queen bunk, which is why this room works so well for families with older kids.
In any case, please know there is one bathroom for the whole cabin. It's newly renovated and it's a good one, but with eight people it's worth planning your mornings around.

7. Lavender Loft — The Cabin for a Romantic Getaway

The Lavender Loft has a round king bed, which I have genuinely never seen anywhere else on this coast, and it's the most requested of our romantic cabins Oregon Coast couples book.
I say this because it's the cabin people specifically ask for by name when they're booking an anniversary, a honeymoon or a milestone birthday, and it's the one that pairs best with our Romance Experience add-on. That said, it's also become a favorite for girls' trips, which I did not expect when we designed it!
Please note this is the one cabin on the property that is not pet-friendly, so if you're travelling with a dog, Merlot Manor is the closest equivalent in feel.

8. Midnight Marina Room — The Studio (Three Available)

The Midnight Marina Room is our smallest and most intimate design, a dark, elegant studio for two with a private sitting area facing the marina and the lake, and there are three of them side by side.
That said, those three are exactly what makes this design worth knowing about. By this, I mean this is the only room type a group can book out entirely: three separate doors, three separate rooms, one shared view. If you're travelling as three couples and nobody wants to share a wall with a bunk bed, this is easily your best option on the property!
This is also, practically speaking, the design most likely to still have availability on a summer weekend, simply because there are three of them.
In any case, please know these are studio-style rooms with one shared wall each, rather than the standalone structures the other seven designs are.

In my opinion, this is the real difference between our Siltcoos Lake cabins and a plain vacation rental, there's a front desk, the gear is here, and the owners live on the property.
Direct lake access and a private fishing dock. Bring your own boat if you have one!
Kayak rentals, launching straight onto the Siltcoos River Canoe Trail, which runs from the lake through old-growth forest all the way to the ocean.
Sandboard and sand sled rentals, with the dunes 3 minutes away.
Nightly lakeside bonfires, with s'mores kits available at the front desk.
Fishing equipment rentals.
Private decks on every unit.
High-speed Wi-Fi and free parking.
Add-on experiences: Romance Experience, Birthday Experience, Mimosa Bar, award-winning Oregon wine and champagne, breakfast baskets, stargazing, early check-in and late check-out.
Personally, if you only add one thing, I'd add the kayaks. I say this because paddling the canoe trail down to where it meets the ocean is the single experience guests talk about most when they check out, and it starts at our dock!

Rates, Check-In and Policies
Rates vary by cabin and season, and booking direct is usually the lowest price, the same cabins list higher on Expedia, Booking.com and Hotels.com.
Check-in is 3:00 PM, check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in at 1:00 PM and late check-out at 1:00 PM are both available as add-ons.

Every unit has a kitchen or kitchenette. The nearest groceries are in Florence, 10 minutes north.
What is the Best Time of Year to Stay on Siltcoos Lake?
Siltcoos Lake is a genuinely year-round destination, and the cabins are open every month!
That said, the seasons here are truly different from one another, and I think it's worth knowing which one you're booking into.
Summer is the warmest and the busiest, and it's easily the best time of year for kayaking, swimming and the dunes. By this, I mean that July and August weekends here book out months in advance, so if summer is what you want, please don't wait!
Personally, though, my favorite months are September and October. I say this because the crowds thin out dramatically after Labor Day, the lake goes glassy in the mornings, and the night skies are the clearest they get all year, which, if you've ever tried stargazing on the Oregon Coast in August, you'll understand immediately!
Winter is the quietest and the most dramatic, and it's also when our rates are at their lowest. The bonfire still runs year-round, weather permitting, and there is truly something about watching a storm move across the lake from behind floor-to-ceiling windows.
This is all to say that there is no bad month here, but the experience genuinely changes depending on when you come!
What to Pack for a Lake Cabin Stay
Every cabin has a kitchen or kitchenette, which means you can cook, and in my opinion, that's one of the best things about staying out here versus a hotel room in town!
That said, the nearest grocery store is in Florence, 10 minutes north, so here's what I'd genuinely recommend bringing:
Groceries for at least breakfast. I say this because you will not want to drive to town at 7am, and you'll be glad you didn't have to.
Layers, not a heavy coat. Coastal Oregon rarely gets truly cold, but it swings 20 degrees between the morning fog and a clear afternoon.
Waterproof shell. It can rain here in any month, and something water rolls off of beats a heavy jacket every time.
Closed-toe shoes for the dunes. The Oregon Dunes are 3 minutes away, and the sand gets hot in July.
Binoculars. This is the one nobody thinks to bring and everybody wishes they had. The birdwatching from the decks is exceptional, and there are river otters in the lake.
A book. I'm serious. Guests tell us constantly that they came planning to do everything and ended up on the deck for two days.
3 Things to Know Before You Book
1. This is a lake, not the ocean.
I want to be genuinely upfront about this, because it's the single thing worth understanding before you book!
By this, I mean that if your mental picture of the Oregon Coast is waves crashing outside your window, that is not what this is. Siltcoos Lake is freshwater and still. The ocean is a short drive or a paddle away, and the dunes are three minutes away, but the water outside your cabin is glass, not surf.
That said, in my opinion this is exactly why people come back. You get the coast without the wind and without the highway noise!
2. You will want to cook at least once.
Every unit has a kitchen or kitchenette, and Florence is 10 minutes north for restaurants and groceries.
This is all to say that the drive is easy, but it's a drive, and the guests who have the best time out here are usually the ones who brought breakfast with them and didn't have to think about it.
3. Summer weekends genuinely sell out.
Of the cabins in Florence Oregon, ours are on the smaller side at ten units total, which means July and August weekends book months ahead.
This is why, if you know your dates and you want a specific cabin, particularly the Lavender Loft or Merlot Manor, I'd book earlier than feels necessary. Those two go first every single year!
